Hello! My name is Jay and I am very grateful to be selected as a 2021 Schulich Leader.
In my free time I love knitting and crocheting, especially designing my own patterns. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I created an Instagram-based business and showroom in order to share my work with the world. I also love the outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and exploring BC’s forests and mountains. I am passionate about math and science and how we can apply them to help the world. This passion has led me to win Silver at the national Canada-Wide Science Fair, conduct research in both biology and chemistry labs at UBC, be my high school’s Math Club President, and create my own math tutoring service. Through my science fair projects I have learned that I love working towards finding solutions to real-world problems, leading me to study engineering. As a future engineer, I hope to have a positive impact on society through science and innovation.
