Run/Rock Out!
What does a 10km race and a rock concert have in common? Well for me, they were both fundraisers that I organized this Fall! As the large scale fundraising lead for the MUN chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB), I was responsible for carrying out two events this semester to raise money for projects that our chapter supports. These projects include our Junior Fellowship program, Fair Trade initiatives, and direct support to EWB ventures overseas.
In October, a group of about 10 members gathered donations from our friends and families for our Run to End Poverty (R2EP); we demonstrated our awesome cardio in a 10km race! Then in November, we hosted a rock concert featuring local bands to raise money for our chapter, as well as to spread the word about the work we are doing. We had a stellar night with some great music and laughs. Both events were a great success for our chapter, and we’re looking forward to using the money to fund projects that we believe create positive and sustainable change!
