As my first semester of university comes to an end, I can confidently say that I have learned a lot these past few months and grown tremendously as a person. As a Schulich Leader I’ve had the opportunity to meet with some truly inspiring people, attend thought provoking events and focus completely on my schoolwork. This semester I have met all kinds of different people, who are at different points of success in their life. From the dean and other members of my faculty, to Mr. Pierre Lassonde (Lassonde School of Engineering Benefactor) to other scholarship recipients at my school. I have had the chance to talk to these people and hear what their personal recipe for success is and learn from them. Towards the start of the semester I was able to attend an event called The Lassonde Symposium, where successful entrepreneurs debate over the issue of whether young entrepreneurs should give university a miss. That is to say, is a university educa tion really necessary for one to become a successful entrepreneur? I personally believe that yes it is, but secretly, (and I’m sure my fellow Schulich Leaders would agree) I sometimes wish it wasn’t, as university can get extremely difficult and stressful at times! I know that it will be well worth it in the end though, and I look forward to next semester and the new challenges and adventures it will bring.
