This first term of University has been filled to the brim with new experiences, information and friendships! Though at some points I felt as though I was spilling over, my first impressions at the University of Saskatchewan exceeded all of my expectations.
I chose to challenge myself this term by choosing a variety of science based classes including biology, chemistry, physics and math and found that my interests still lie in the life sciences. My biology class was by far favourite; I loved getting to learn about microscopy, genetics and forensic biology during the labs and found the lectures to be equally interesting. I am looking forward to joining the U of S Biology Club next term to see what opportunities are open for me in my pursuit of entering the medical field later on in my studies.
Outside of my studies, I have enjoyed coaching my high school dance team, being a part of the Greystone Scholars Society as well as tutoring both elementary and high school students. Working with such motivated students has most definitely been a highlight in my after-school life. I have loved getting to share my passion for dance and interest in math with my community, as well as connecting with other like-minded Greystone Scholars.
My family also experienced a huge change in our lives after the passing of my grandma this October. This truly put into perspective for me how important it is to not only spend time studying but to be with loved ones whenever possible. I would not have been able to have such an enjoyable term without the support of my family and friends.
I am looking forward to a fresh start next term and to get back to my studies full force!
