The "Ivey League" of Schulich Leader Scholarships: The Top 5 in 2017
The 2017 SLS application period is officially closed and the top five universities in the program are confirmed.
Leading the pack for the 6th consecutive year is University of Waterloo. UW had a record-breaking 450+ Schulich Leader Nominees vying for the awards this spring. No other university in the history of the program has recorded this many interested applicants.
Coming in second through fourth place for the sixth straight year is the University of Toronto, followed by McMaster University and Queen’s University. 2017 saw a passing of the guard in the top five, with the University of British Columbia (UBC) claiming the fifth spot amongst the national network of 1,300+ Schulich Leader Nominees in Canada. Western University tracked closely behind UBC, slipping into 6th position this year.
Each year the top 5 of 20 partner universities boasting the largest total Nominee pools are awarded an additional two scholarships each: one designated to an additional engineering recipient valued at $100,000; and one designated to an additional science, technology or math student valued at $80,000, for a total of four annual scholarships. This structure was put in place to ensure the most desirable universities provide equal opportunity for Nominees to win the award.
