What is your favourite inspirational quote?

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see” – Henry David Thoreau

What is a little known fact about you?

Though I am interested in maths, physics, science, and all of the laws determined by the universe, I also consider myself an extremely artistic and creative-minded person. Since before I can remember, I have always had a passion for design and anything having to do with visual presentation. Hence why in my earlier teenager years I was obsessed with interior design shows (I’m pretty sure I’ve watched all of the episodes of property brothers). All throughout school, though many others dreaded it, I would always love being left to work out the design portion of any project. Not only did I want the outcome to be functional but also innovative and appealing. What I loved most I think was seeing something I had imagined come to life.

Why do you make a great Schulich Leader?

This may sound cliché but I truly believe that everyone has the potential for greatness, whether they see it for themselves or not. If I am able to uphold the title of Schulich Leader today, it is in big part because of my faith in my ability to succeed despite all circumstances or what people ever had to say. I’ve always wanted to be an inspiration to others; I want to encourage them to never doubt their capabilities, their dreams, their ideas. I want them to look at my experience and realise that almost anything is possible if willing to set your mind to it. I didn’t have it all growing up, many times less than my peers, and I am most definitely not perfect, but I never saw this as something that could prevent me from having big aspirations and work to get to where I desired to be. I really want to make an imprint in this world and impact people’s lives for the better through engineering; because not only do I care about science and maths and design but I also love people and want to be able to make a difference somewhere to someone (hopefully you’ll hear about me in the near future; a girl can dream…).
