Revitalizing Canada’s role in the disarmament and non-proliferation debate

In 1955, ten years after the first use of the first atomic weapons in conflict, Albert Einstein and Bertrand Russell published a manifesto urging all people: “remember your humanity, and forget the rest.” The Russell–Einstein Manifesto fed into a the Pugwash conferences, a global movement for the responsible use of science. It had been my dream to attend a Pugwash conference since I first learned about the movement in high school, so I was thrilled and humbled to attend the 61st Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs in Nagasaki this autumn.

I wrote an op-ed about the experience with my friends from the Canadian student contingent here.
