It’s hard to believe that my first year at university is already coming to an end. Reflecting over the past year, I’m very happy to have spent it at McGill University.

Much of this satisfaction comes from my involvement in a number of extracurricular activities. I am closely involved with the Newman Centre, the home of the Catholic chaplaincy at McGill University. I'm very excited to be living at their men's residence next year. I'm also taking on the position of VP Finance of the Newman Students' Society, an affiliated student club, next year; I served as the club's deputy treasurer this year. I'm also the VP Finance of Choose Life, the campus pro-life group, and I sit on the board of Conservative McGill.

On the academic front, the complexities associated with being awarded transfer credits from the International Baccalaureate diploma I received in high school has made my course selections in the second semester very interesting, to say the least. I've received transfer credit for pretty much everything: physics, chemistry, computer sciences, etc, with the exception of calculus. As such, I've had to fill my schedule with the likes of Communication in Engineering and Engineering Economy, since all other courses have calculus as a prerequisite. Don't get me wrong, these classes are interesting, but I am looking forward to next year when I can take "real" electrical engineering courses, such as Electric Circuits.

I'm looking forward to working at an Ottawa-area high tech firm called Solace Systems this summer. I worked for them last summer, and I really enjoyed it. And of course, I'm looking forward to this coming September. University's great, and I have high hopes for the next academic year!
