Last term, from May to August, I…
Last term, from May to August, I completed a fantastic co-op work term with Maple Leaf Foods! Under the direction of the Senior Manager of New Product Development, I got to learn how to succeed and conduct myself in a busy workplace, while also completing a couple of work term projects to improve product quality. I also assisted my supervisor with producing and packaging food products, as well as helping with the transition to new management software. It was an amazing experience, where the work environment was a combination of a production plant and an office. The skills that I learned from this work term will definitely be applied to my future co-op terms.
This current term of school has kept me very busy! In addition to my heavy course load, I am still currently the Events Coordinator of the Midnight Sun Solar Race Car team. I am also a proud member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Women’s Fraternity. This term, we raised over $17,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute in a weeklong fundraiser. I also had the privilege of meeting Nicole (2012 Schulich Leader), as well as the 2013 Schulich Leaders, Lucas and Chloé, where we got to know each other and discuss each other’s accomplishments. They are all inspiring individuals and I look forward to contributing to a growing network of Schulich Leaders at the University of Waterloo.
As for next term, I will be completing my second work term as a Terminal Engineering co-op student with Canada’s largest integrated energy company, Suncor. I look forward to learning about the energy and oil industry and blogging about my experience in my next blog!
