It is at this time of year…
It is at this time of year, when I am studying for my final exams, that I really notice how much I have learned. Looking back at my notes, I remember listening to my professors as they were first introducing subjects I had never heard of before. Solving differential equations, concrete mix design, moment of inertia… Only a few months ago, these were completely unknown to me. I can’t wait to see what else I will learn in the future! University offers an incomparable learning experience and I want to make the most of it.
Last year, my classes were mostly core courses for students in all science and engineering programs. This semester, however, I took three classes specific to civil engineering: Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Materials, and Civil Engineering Mechanics. I really enjoyed learning what is specific and pertinent to my area of study. It has given me a taste of the civil engineering profession. I am looking forward to next semester. There is still so much to learn!
