A year of exploration and discovery
It’s hard to believe that my first year of university will be over in less than a week. It seems like yesterday that I moved into university. It’s been a year of exploration and discovery. It was also incredibly fun, and a year I won’t forget.
Compared to last term, this term was much more academically challenging. Everything was at a much faster rate. I think that this gave me a feel of what to except in the upcoming years. An important decision we had to make this semester was picking our majors. Although I already knew that I wanted to major in biochemistry, it was very interesting to explore what a science degree has to offer. There are so many possibilities. After picking all of next year’s courses, I’m very excited to start second year.
Living in residence played a very important role in my life here. It’s been my home away from home and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I joined next year’s house committee as the treasurer. I’m also part of the house orientation committee (HOC). We are in charge on organising orientation week for the frosh next year. I’m very excited to help out the first years. I remember how it felt not knowing what to expect coming into a new place. The HOC helped me a lot in the transition to university and I want to do the same thing for the incoming first years.
Overall, it has been a terrific year. I’ve learned so much, and I feel that I have matured as well. I’m very grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to next year.
